Penn State has picked a date for the 2017 Whiteout game.
The Lions’ Oct. 21 matchup versus Michigan will double as the annual game that sees Beaver Stadium fill up with fans clad in white shirts, jackets, hats, and so on.
The selection, announced by the school on Tuesday, was hardly a surprise, seeing that the Wolverines are easily the top opponent on the schedule in October and perhaps the entire home slate.
In 2016, Penn State upset No. 2 Ohio State in its Whiteout game, 24-21, and the yearly contest has generally equalled the largest home crowd of the year.
For those planning for down the road, there’s a good chance this contest, scheduled for Week 8 of the 2017 season, will kick off in primetime. That said, game time and TV assignments won’t be released until at least mid-May.

Penn State is slowly releasing game themes for the upcoming season; it recently announced that it would honor the 2016 Big Ten champions before the Pittsburgh game in September, and more themes are expected to come throughout the spring and summer.
