The next obstacle between the Pittsburgh Penguins and a Stanley Cup repeat: Eastern Conference final preview
The Pittsburgh Penguins got past the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference semifinal in seven games, and many believe that was the toughest test Pittsburgh will face as it attempts to repeat as the Stanley Cup champions. But before the Penguins can return to the Stanley Cup final, they have to get by the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference final. The series opens Saturday at PPG Paints Arena at 7 p.m.
The Penguins are trying to become the first team to repeat as Stanley Cup champions since the Detroit Red Wings in 1997 and 1998. Pittsburgh is just the fourth team since 2004-05 to reach a conference final the year after winning.
