Shazier had been at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center since suffering a back injury in the Steelers 23-20 victory over the Bengals on Monday night.
Neurosurgeons at UPMC and UC Medical Center released a joint statement on Tuesday saying Shazier was expected to be evaluated for another 24 to 48 hours.
Shazier led with his helmet on a tackle of Josh Malone in the first quarter of Monday’s game. After the play, he reached for his lower back with his left hand and motioned trainers on with his right. Shazier was then placed on a stretcher and carted off the field.
