Senators survive late rally to hold on for 7-5 victory over Hartford Yard Goats
Harrisburg nearly squandered a gem from starting pitcher Greg Ross, but the Senators were able to fend off a late rally from the Yard Goats to hang on for a 7-5 victory.
Ross earned the win, allowing just three hits over six scoreless innings. The Senators provided plenty of run support and held a 6-0 lead going into the eighth inning.
The Yard Goats went on a tear in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs to draw within a run. The Senators answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring one run to extend the lead to 7-5. Ryan Brinley finished off a two inning save, holding the Yard Goats scoreless in the ninth to wrap up the victory.
Andrew Stevenson was the only Senator to tally multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Senators and Yard Goats will continue their three game series tomorrow with a 6:30 p.m. game at FNB Field.
