Senators open series with 6-2 win over Trenton
After dropping the last two contests, the Senators stopped their short, two-game skid with a 6-2 victory over the Trenton Thunder.
The Senators took the lead in the third inning, scoring three runs courtesy of a RBI single by Mario Lisson and a two RBI triple by Neftali Soto.
Yadiel Hernandez’s RBI single in the top of the fourth extended the Senator’s lead to 4-0.
The Thunder answered in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring two runs to cut the lead in half, though they would get no closer. The Senators added two insurance runs in the top half of the ninth inning to wrap up the 6-2 victory.
Eric Fedde picked up his second win of the season in impressive fashion, pitching seven strong innings. Fedde gave up just five hits and two runs while striking out seven batters.
The Senators and Thunder are back in action tomorrow for the second game of a four game series. The two sides will face off at 7 p.m. at Trenton’s Arm & Hammer Park.
