Senators fall victim to late rally in 9-1 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils
Harrisburg and Reading played a close contest for much of the game, but two strong innings late propelled Reading to a convincing 9-1 victory.
The Senators and Fightin Phils traded runs in the first inning, with each side garnering one run. The Fightins tallied one run in the top of the fourth to take a lead that they would never give up.
After taking a 2-1 lead into the seventh, the Fightins found their offensive spark, scoring three runs including a two run home run courtesy of Kyle Martin.
The Fightin Phils offensive rally continued in the eighth inning as Andrew Pullin’s grand slam gave Reading an insurmountable 9-1 lead.
Brandon Leibrandt picked up the win for Reading, striking out seven batters while allowing just one run over six innings. Pullin tallied a game high five RBIs while going 3-for-5 with two home runs in the victory.
For the Senators, Drew Ward and Raudy Read each went 2-for-4. Jaron Long pitched well while taking the loss, giving up just two runs while striking out eight batters over five innings.
