Senators fall to Trenton Thunder 5-2
The Senators were unable to get much going offensively in Friday night’s 5-2 loss against the Trenton Thunder.
Ronald Herrera picked up the win for the Thunder, allowing just one run and scattering five hits over seven innings.
Jake Cave’s RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning put the Thunder on top. Mike Ford’s sacrifice fly later in the inning brought Cave home and extended the Thunder’s lead to 2-0.
Raudy Read’s RBI double in the fourth inning drove Neftali Soto home and cut the deficit in half.
The Thunder answered in the sixth inning, adding another two runs to their lead courtesy of RBIs from Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar. Thair Estrada’s RBI double in the seventh inning scored Billy Fleming and extended the lead to 5-1.
Drew Ward knocked one run home in the top of the ninth, but the Senators were unable to draw any closer.
The Senators and Thunder will be back in action tomorrow for the third game of a four game series, a 7 p.m. game at Trenton’s Arm & Hammer Park.
