Pittsburgh Steelers give T.J. Watt jersey No. 90; who wore it before him?
Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick T.J. Watt looks set to wear the No. 90. Picking uniforms for Steelers players is difficult in that the team has only ever retired two numbers, but plenty are informally off limits or at least carry the heavy weight of another player’s legacy.
With the No. 90, neither of those is very much in play. Fewer than 20 players have ever donned it for the Steelers in regular season player.
It’s a uniform the 30th overall pick out of Wisconsin can make into his own. And with as much in mind, we’ll look at who some of his shirt’s predecessors are.

He was the first to wear the number and did so for the 1956 season.
