Philadelphia Eagles podcast: Assessing and grading Derek Barnett and the Eagles’ draft class
The Philadelphia Eagles played host to the 2017 NFL Draft and got universally positive feedback for the energy the city brought to the event. The Eagles also landed a productive pass-rusher in the first round in Tennessee’s Derek Barnett and perhaps the most talented cornerback in the class in Washington’s Sidney Jones, whose stock fell because of an Achilles injury he suffered.
Philadelphia left the 2017 draft without an offensive line prospect and didn’t get a traditional running back, opting instead for small but dynamic Donnell Pumphrey, so it wasn’t a perfect performance by general manager Howie Roseman and his staff.
Greg Pickel and I evaluated the class this week and handed out grades in a podcast for the Keystone Sports Network. Check out audio from the show below.
