Penn State wins another Big Ten title, this time in men’s outdoor track and field
Penn State’s outdoor men’s track team won the Big Ten title on Sunday.
Penn State’s lead has grown in the race to accumulate the most Big Ten titles during the 2016-2017 academic year.
The Lions entered Sunday with six conference crowns — in football, wrestling, men’s hockey, women’s indoor track and field, women’s soccer, and field hockey — and they have now added a seventh to the ledger, as the men’s outdoor track and field team clinched the Big Ten title during this year’s championship event, which was held at Penn State, with 117 points.
Ohio State finished second with 103 points, and Nebraska rounded out the top three with 97 points. Purdue was the women’s conference champ, and the Penn State women finished third.
The men were paced by eight all-first or second-team Big Ten team picks. It’s the first time in program history that the men have won a conference title. Full results, plus some tweets, are below.
