Penn State to honor Big Ten championship team on Sept. 9 against Pitt
Penn State announced that it would honor the 2016 Big Ten champions in a ceremony before taking on Pitt on Sept. 9 in Beaver Stadium.
Penn State’s Week 2 matchup against Pitt already had plenty of hype.
With the Nittany Lions looking to avenge a narrow loss to the Panthers at Heinz Field, the renewed in-state rivalry had all the fanfare it needed to create an exciting environment in Happy Valley for Round 2.
Now, Penn State has given its fans even more reason to get excited for the rematch.
On Saturday, the team announced on Twitter that it would honor the 2016 Big Ten champions in a ceremony before taking on Pitt on Sept. 9 in Beaver Stadium.

“B1G Championships call for B1G recognitions. Be there for a ‘suite’ pregame… #WeAre,” Penn State football tweeted from its official Twitter account.
There is no further information about the ceremony or what it entails. It is possible, however, the reference to a “suite” pregame recognition could be in reference to an unveiling of the year 2016 on the facade of the east side of the stadium.
