Penn State targets earns invite to The Opening; Lions offer 2018 WR, more recruiting notes
Cleveland, Ohio four-star defensive tackle Tyreke Smith.
Penn State sent out a new offer over the weekend.
The Nittany Lions, already with two verbal commitments from Texas in its Class of 2018, offered Schertz, Tex., receiver Tommy Bush, a four-star prospect with almost 40 offers, according to 247Sports. The website’s Crystal Ball prediction tool says Bush, who stands 6-foot-4, 175 pounds, will stay in-state and choose Baylor when all is said and done.
PSU will try to get him to campus, and really, that’s about the only shot it has to land him.
Bush’s offer was not the only recruiting news related to the Lions over the weekend, as the program also also hosted a number of prospects, including Owing Mills, Md., four-star defensive tackle P.J. Mustipher, Tampa, Fla., three-star defensive lineman Judge Culpepper, and four-star Temecula, Calif., linebacker Jack Lamb in the Class of 2018, while Charlotte, N.C., safety Jeremiah Gray and Baltimore, Md., athlete Savion Williams rounded out the Class of 2019 visitors.
Lamb’s parents both graduated from Penn State, and PSU has raced to the top of his Crystal Ball picks.
“Today was a really special day for me,” Lamb told Blue-White Illustrated.
“I got the offer to the school that both my parents graduated from. It’s really been an amazing experience. I’ve grown up being taught to cheer for Penn State, so I’ve been a fan for awhile.”

On a final Monday morning note, Penn State target and Cleveland, Ohio four-star defensive tackle Tyreke Smith earned an invitation to this summer’s edition of The Opening finals in Beaverton, Ore., after performing as a standout during The Opening Regional event held Sunday in Ohio. Another PSU target, Columbus, Ohio three-star linebacker Brian Asamoah, was the MVP of his position and could earn an invite down the road.
