Today’s Penn State football news headlines feature an update on the recruitment of five-star quarterback commit Justin Fields and more hype for Saquon Barkley and the 2018 NFL Draft.
Fields, a 6-3, 221-pound prospect from Harrison (Ga.) High School, picked up a new offer from Baylor this week, bringing his offer sheet up to 40. He also got a Tuesday morning visit from Florida State quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders, according to the Harrison football program’s Twitter account.
Penn State commit Jesse Luketa expressed awe for Fields’ ability in an interview with Land of 10’s Tyler Donohue. Even though Fields is a five-star player, Luketa said, he might still be under-appreciated. “He’s one of the most athletic individuals I’ve ever seen,” Luketa told Donohue. “The kid is gifted, and when he steps foot on campus, he’s going to impress a lot of people. His film doesn’t lie, and he’s going to dominate.”
Just for fun, here’s a good video from Rivals of Fields making a precision deep throw from his vantage point.

Barkley talked to SI’s Pete Thamel about the NFL Draft and said he wouldn’t rule out skipping a bowl game, which both Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey did last bowl season for LSU and Stanford, respectively. Both went in the top eight picks of the 2017 NFL Draft anyway.
Barkley and USC quarterback Sam Darnold will create 2018 NFL Draft debate, writes Bill Bender for The Sporting News.
