Penn State football: Looking at Saquon Barkley and the 2018 NFL Draft
Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is already being billed as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft. As soon as the 2017 draft ended, the buzz for Barkley grew with two mock drafters — Eric Galko of The Sporting News and Dane Brugler of CBS Sports — pegging Barkley as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 draft.
Meanwhile, Barkley was asked by Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel about the possibility of skipping a bowl game next season. Barkley left the door open depending on the type of game and his health. That practice became a storyline again during the draft when running backs Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey were picked Nos. 4 and 8 overall, respectively, despite opting to skip their teams’ bowl games.
Greg Pickel and I looked at what makes Barkley so good, his potential bowl decision and what needs to happen for him to declare early for the draft. Check out the video in this post.
