NFL Draft 2017: Penn State WR Chris Godwin goes to Tampa Bay Buccaneers in third round, No. 84 overall
PHILADELPHIA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin in the third round with the No. 84 overall pick of the NFL draft Friday night.
On the biggest stage, Godwin shined the brightest. In a Rose Bowl loss to USC, Godwin caught nine catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns of 30 and 72 yards.
He performed well at the NFL combine in March, which helped propel him and his 6-foot-1, 209-pound frame up draft boards. In the pre-draft process, Godwin visited both the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Godwin will have the opportunity to play with another big-armed quarterback in the NFL with Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.
