The NFL draft brings new faces into the league, and Philadelphia Eagles fans now have eight players to get to know (before you count undrafted free agents, which haven’t been announced yet).
We’ve written stories about the Birds’ selections and we’ll continue to report on them in the coming months. But for now, we thought we’d step out of the way, and let the players do the talking.
So, here is a look at some of the best quotes the Eagles’ draft picks offered during their chats with the media last week:
On defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s scheme: “I love it. You know what I’m saying? That’s my style, and I fit it very well. Coach Schwartz does the same thing too. So I think it’s going to be a good fit.”
On how he developed a work ethic: “Yes, sir, it was. My mom raised me, so she taught me. She always told me, ‘Stay humble and put your head down and just work.’ She’s worked a lot. I’ve seen her work up to three jobs when I was younger, so I think I get that attitude from her.”
On the pressure of being compared to Terrell Suggs and breaking Reggie White’s sack record at Tennessee: “No, sir, I don’t feel any pressure. I take it as a compliment, and Terrell Suggs, he was a great ball player, going to be a Hall of Famer, and Reggie White, probably one of the greatest defensive linemen to play the game. For me to be compared to those two is really a blessing.”
