Lisson goes yard as Senators beat Yard Goats 2-1
In the first of a three game series, the Senators were able to take game one against the Hartford Yard Goats 2-1.
The game was knotted at 0-0 until the sixth inning, when Mario Lisson smacked a solo home run to put the Senators up 1-0. The Yard Goats answered in the top of the seventh when cleanup hitter Drew Weeks smacked a solo home run of his own to tie the game at 1-1. Harrisburg didn’t take long to respond as the Senators were able to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the seventh courtesy of an Osvaldo Abreu RBI single which brought Neftali Soto home.
Jaron Long pitched seven innings, giving up just two hits and one run. Long improved to 3-3 for the year after capturing the win. Wander Suero recorded his third save of the season, pitching a hitless ninth inning while striking out two Yard Goats. Sam Howard, who is still looking for his first win of the year, took the loss for the Yard Goats. Howard pitched seven innings and was responsible for both of the Senators runs.
Game two of this three game weekend series is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. tomorrow at FNB Field.
