The SEC and Big Ten dominate our top 16 list of the most highly rated television games of the 2016-17 college football season. Only three of those contests lacked at least one team from the game’s two preeminent conferences. Here are the most-viewed of the season, ascending from No. 16 to No. 1. The rankings were constructed based on figures obtained from the painstakingly comprehensive season compilation of the highly recommended SportsMediaWatch.com.

CBS drew 7.9M viewers with the 3 p.m. start a week after all the major-conference championships had been decided and no significant football competition challenged the iconic game on the schedule.
