Imhotep Charter’s Isheem Young talks Penn State, added muscle and visits
Imhotep Charter’s Isheem Young, who is playing with the Battle PA Playmakers 7v7 team, covers a receiver during Saturday’s East Coast Elite tournament at Spooky Nook.
Isheem Young showed up at the East Coast Elite passing tournament Saturday with a bit of a different look.
The Imhotep Charter junior defensive back, and Penn State target, said he is at 201 pounds now, up from his playing weight of 185 last season.
“I’ve been in the weight room every day,” he said. “I’m just following our coach’s routine. I’m trying to turn everything into muscle. If you’re a safety, and you’re 200 pounds of muscle … I think that’s pretty good right there.”
What would be even better, at least in the eyes of Nittany Lions’ fans, would be for Young to choose State College for his college destination.
He recently released his top 12 and Penn State was in the mix along with Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Baylor, West Virginia, Maryland, Temple, Clemson, Alabama, Michigan and Georgia.
Young said he hopes to trim that list to five sometime in the summer.
He’s currently planning to make visits to Ohio State, Clemson, West Virginia, Alabama and Penn State soon.
Who’s been coming after him the hardest?
Penn State, he said, and several of the Nittany Lions’ commits.
“Micah (Parsons) and everybody that is committed have really been talking to me about going there,” he said.
