Eshelman’s homer leads Reading to 4-2 win over Harrisburg
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Tom Eshelman hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Reading Fightin Phils to a 4-2 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday. The Fightin Phils swept the short two-game series with the win.
The home run by Eshelman scored Mitch Walding and Angelo Mora to give the Fightin Phils a 3-1 lead.
The Senators cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Drew Ward hit a solo home run.
The Fightin Phils tacked on another run in the seventh when Aaron Brown hit a solo home run.
Reading right-hander Eshelman (2-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Erick Fedde (1-2) took the loss in the Eastern League game after he allowed four runs on just four hits over seven innings. Jesen Therrien retired the side in order for his second save of the season.
