Could commitment be coming before fall for Penn State target, 4-star Isheem Young?
Isheem Young wants to take his official visits this fall, but yet, the Philadelphia Imhotep Charter four-star defensive back is also pondering whether or not it’s time to make a decision.
Time will tell whether one of the Keystone State’s top recruits will receive a late invite to The Opening after performing well at a regional event put on by the camp in New Jersey on Sunday but missing out. Either way, he’ll be busy this summer whether he makes it or not.
“I do want to take all my officials, but I do plan on committing before the season,” he said.
Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, and Florida were among the schools Young rattled off when asked who he wants to see over the next few months before going on to win the Regional’s defensive back MVP award. He has a top-12 that includes those schools, plus PSU and a few others, and he hopes to cut that list down sooner rather than later.
The Class of 2018 recruit has already seen Penn State, the current leader in his 247Sports’ Crystal Ball, a few times this spring between Junior Day, spring practice, and then the Blue-White game.
“It was pretty lit; during the game, it was very good,” Young said of his spring scrimmage stop at Beaver Stadium.
“They don’t just want me. They need me. [That means] a lot. Pretty much only Penn State’s told me that”
Undoubtedly, that’s part of the reason the Lions have such a commanding lead over Florida State and others, but a desire to take visits brings with it a reason to tap the breaks on any thoughts that the Lions are a lock in this one.
That said, they sit in pretty good shape.
Young has starred for each of the past two seasons for Imhotep after briefly considering a transfer to powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., about a year ago. He’ll finish his career with the Philadelphia program before moving on to the next level.
“I didn’t take too many visits, so I plan to get out more this summer,” he said.
A commitment might soon follow.
