The offer from the Wildcats gives Young 32 offers. Five of those — LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri — are from SEC schools. There’s also an assortment of other blue bloods in the mix for Young’s commitment, including Ohio State, Florida State, Clemson and Michigan.
The leader for Young, though, appears to be Penn State. He’s visited State College a number of times this spring and was there for the Blue-White spring game last month. With 16 predictions in his 247Sports crystal ball, 94 percent of them are for the Nittany Lions.
Young is a four-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings, along with the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania, No. 9 safety nationally and No. 90 overall prospect in the Class of 2018.
Young told PennLive over the weekend that while he might commit before the season starts, he still wants to take his official visits. He mentioned Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State and Florida among the schools he’s planning on visiting.
“I do want to take all my officials, but I do plan on committing before the season,” Young said.
In March, Young released a top 12 featuring: Penn State, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Baylor, West Virginia, Maryland, Temple, Clemson, Alabama, Michigan and Georgia.
Last month, he told PennLive he had put on more than 15 pounds of muscle to bump his playing weight up to 201.
