Adidas congratulates runners on ‘surviving’ Boston Marathon, apologizes
An email sent out from Adidas to participants of the Boston Marathon has received major backlash.
The marketing email, sent out on Tuesday, aimed to congratulate runners went out with the subject, “Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!”
Amidst much scrutiny, Adidas issued an apology later that evening, calling the subject line of the message ‘insensitive.’
“We are incredibly sorry,” a statement from the company reads. “Clearly, there was no thought given to the insensitive email subject line we sent Tuesday. We deeply apologize for our mistake.”
