Riverton schools identify job cuts amid state funding losses
The Riverton school district has identified teaching and coaching positions it will cut because of reductions in state funding.
The Riverton Ranger reported Friday (http://bit.ly/2oVRhjW ) that Superintendent Terry Snyder expects a total reduction of 20 jobs, but unexpectedly high numbers of resignations and retirements in recent weeks could mean only about four or five employees will be laid off.
The district will see a 3 percent budget reduction because of funding cuts by the state Legislature and an additional 0.5 percent reduction because of declining enrollment.
Cuts include assistant coaches in football, boys’ basketball, golf, wrestling and girls’ swimming.
